I initiated a discussion on one of the Galaxy Zoo threads, some time back, regarding this apparent mismatch between science vs lay speak - and the pitfalls that await because of it.
One example being evolution &#039;theory&#039; - From experience I know that many non-science literate people I&#039;ve talked to define the word to mean &#039;a vague idea&#039; as in &#039;I have a theory about that, but....&#039; and this misunderstanding is often exploited by religious &#039;leaders&#039; in order to bolster ID&#039;ism...</description>
